Foz do Iguaçu International Airport completed the approval of its new 2,705-meter runway, making it the second-longest in southern Brazil. Operations were cleared on October 2, marking the arrival of a JetSMART flight from Santiago, Chile, as the first.
The airport's modernization also included expanding the passenger terminal by 5,000 square meters, as well as creating new check-in and boarding areas. The aircraft apron was expanded, increasing the capacity for simultaneous flight handling.
