Saturday night (29) marked a historic advance for regional aviation. The first direct flight to Fortaleza, operated by Gol, left the runway at Foz do Iguaçu International Airport, inaugurating the second longest route in the country in regular operation. The debut registered 93% occupancy, a result that reinforces the demand already expected for the connection.
The new flight departs from Foz every Saturday at 7:25 pm, with arrival scheduled for 11:25 pm in the capital of Ceará. In the opposite direction, the departure from Fortaleza occurs at 6:20 pm, landing in the Land of the Waterfalls at 10:40 pm. The weekly operation creates a tourist air bridge between two renowned regions: the sunny coast of Ceará and the set of natural and cultural attractions that make Foz one of the most visited destinations in Brazil.
The route emerges at a time of expansion for the local airport, which was completely remodeled earlier this year by Motiva. In addition to modernizing the terminal, the concessionaire has expanded its network of domestic flights, including the recent debuts of Foz do Iguaçu-Brasília and Foz do Iguaçu-Congonhas routes.
With the arrival of the Foz do Iguaçu-Fortaleza connection, Gol now directly connects Foz do Iguaçu to its sixth base from the capital of Ceará. The route allows for new travel combinations and strengthens the flow of tourism between the Northeast and the tri-border area, bringing together two destinations that complement each other through the diversity of landscapes, experiences, and audiences.
Thus, foreigners who are visiting the Northeast or vice versa have the possibility of a faster flight between the two regions.
